On October 4, 2019, the Liechtenstein Parliament passed the Notaries Act in its second reading. The law closes a significant loophole for services in legal transactions and finally eliminates the competitive disadvantages existing in this area. The Notaries Act now provides the basis for the exercise of the profession of notary in Liechtenstein and for the first time permits public notarizations, certifications and the establishment of enforceable titles by notaries in Liechtenstein. Special recognition should be given at this point to the initiator of the Notaries Act, MMag. Nicolas Reithner, who persistently campaigned for the introduction of the Notary Act.
The Notary Act comes into force on 01.01.2020.
